Mark has over 20 years experience in public education. He has worked in small school districts, a County Office of Education, and at the state level in communications for ACSA and CSEA. He also was publicist for the California Reading Association, California Year Round Education Association.
He serves as a school board member; chairs the ROP board, Vice President of on the Countywide PTA, and is a CSBA Delegate.
He presents at conferences on topics ranging from Dealing with the Media to School District First Amendment Rights at CSBA, California Kindergarten Association, ACSA, CSLA, and various school districts.
His education is English (BA) and Journalism (MA). He worked as a newspaper reporter then editor eventually teaching journalism at Allan Hancock College. He was asked to join the staff of a rapidly growing school district to handle their public relations and switch to year-round education.
Prior to joining the staff of the San Luis Obispo County Office of Education, he formed a countywide communication consortium that included improving the Annual Notification to Parents.
