Kayla’s involvement in education started as an involved parent. Beyond scouts, 4-H Leader, School Site Council, School District Committees, and the County Food Bank, she became heavily involved in the PTA – serving up to the State Board of Managers. She was involved in developing publications, writing resolutions, and also represented California State PTA at the Commission on Teacher Credentialing and on Federal Advocacy issues.
She serves as a Juvenile Justice Commissioner for the County of San Luis Obispo, and currently sits as the Vice Chair.
Kayla was educated as an architect, and later went back to get a teaching credential in math (all but student teaching). During her Masters work she taught Intro to Computers to Architecture and Construction Management students at Cal Poly.
